Biography

John and Rick Brewster are founding members and major songwriters of the legendary Angels, one of Australia’s most successful rock bands who smash attendance records wherever they play.
The guys play lead and rhythm guitar and produced the band’s classic multi-platinum albums.
After three decades, The Angels remain one of Australia’s most loved and respected bands.
In 1998 The Angels were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
A few years ago Rick and John started a new break-away project, performing acoustically as ‘The Brewster Brothers’, creating an elusive new musical style that reflects Rick’s early classical piano training and John’s teenage years as a folk and acoustic performer.
Using Harry Vanda’s Sydney studios, Rick and John created their debut album ‘Shadows Fall’, which really takes you on a journey into a musical place inhabited by the likes of Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan.
After their studio album and a live EP ‘Any Day’, the Brewster Brothers launch their new CD ‘Brewster Brothers in Concert Live At The Port Fairy Folk Festival’, featuring the extraordinary talents of Jim Conway (harmonica) and Paul Robert Burton (stand up bass and percussion).
Throughout the weekend at Port Fairy 2007 the band touched crowds with their enchanting songs from the highly acclaimed ‘Shadows Fall’. By the last concert the hocker’s sides were splitting with new fans. That truly special performance, in which they were joined by Anne Kirkpatrick and Eleanor McEvoy (violin) for standout spontaneous renditions of several of their songs, captured the essence of the Port Fairy Folk Festival and was recorded by the ABC. The show was broadcast on “Music Deli” on ABC Radio National on May 18 and then again on Sunday May 20th. The ABC received many emails from listeners saying how much they enjoyed the show and asking where they could purchase the album. This prompted a re-broadcast in January 2008.

After the success of the Australian festivals, events and recordings of 2007, John & Rick decided to join forces with Paul Robert Burton to form the Brewster Brothers Trio.
They now juggle their intimate club-style tours with The Angels’ appearances at rock venues Australia wide.
